本片改编自2006年挪威畅销同名小说。故事的主人公艾娃是一个“毛孩儿”，生活在20世纪初期的北欧。她因为自己的基因疾病，全身大面积被毛发覆盖。人们叫她狮子女。影片跟随她的成长经历描述了那个时代北欧的生活面貌。从参加剧团扮演丑角，到成为一个作家，狮子女艾娃慢慢学会接受自己，用自己的智慧独立生活，并最终赢得他人的尊敬。
根据超人气条漫《一百天后死掉的鳄鱼》改编的动画电影定档5月28日在日本上映。《摄影机不要停！》导演上田慎一郎和妻子福田美由纪共同导演，神木隆之介为鳄鱼配音，中村伦也、木村昴、新木优子也担任配音。2019年12月12日，漫画家菊池佑纪开始在推特上传一组漫画，记录一只鳄鱼平凡的100天生命倒计时，从此热度居高不下。
Eight years after a cataclysm and disease ravaged the human race - leaving just one in every ten surviving -, all social structures have crumbled like sand castles.
