今なお恐竜が棲息するという北極圏の謎の秘境。石油王であり、世界的に有名な狩猟家でもあるＲ・ブーンは、石油探索機ポーラボーラを使ってその秘境を目指す。アメリカのランキン＝バス・プロと、日本の円谷プロが提携した作品で元々は劇場用だったが、全米ではＴＶムービーとして放映。どう見ても日本の山ン中にしか見えない秘境の風景や、どう見ても日本人にしか見えない原始人には目をつぶるにせよ、ドラマ部の脆弱さはいただけない。“最後の恐竜”と渾名される主人公と、秘境で生き延びていたティラノザウルスを重ね合わせる構成も上手くいってるとは言い難い。肝心の恐竜などの特撮はヌイグルミが基本だが、極力、人間の骨格を意識させないような造りになっており、特撮スタッフの苦労の跡は窺える。ランキン＝バス・プロは’７８年にも、日本の特撮を駆使したＳＦドラマ「バミューダの謎／魔の三角水域に棲む巨大モンスター！」（小谷承靖がトム・コタニとして監督）を作っている。

Some may say it has no sense, but if you look closely you'll notice that this movie is a philosophical masterpiece. It shows several scenes of life in the village and then the brilliant Rangel Vulchanov puts reality into a boy's fantasies. The movie jumps from birth to death, from wedding to funeral, from joy to sorrow, from reality to fantasy, from war to peace. There are lots of laughable moments for the comedy fans, and there's drama for the drama fans. You won't forget this movie once you've seen it. It's a true gem! It will give you all you want even more...One of the best Bulgarian movies ever made. Better than all of the French movies altogether!
