老校长森衣恭一（尾形一成 饰）在妻子去世之后过着离群索居的生活，个性古板而又顽固的他将自己的全部精力都投入到了俄罗斯文学的翻译工作之中。唯一还在和恭一走动的，除了经常给他带来各种资料的社工小鹿祥吾（染谷将太 饰）外，就只有一只可爱的小猫咪了。 这只小猫是恭一的太太生前喂养的流浪猫，它每天都会准时准点的出现在恭一家的院子里，于是恭一接替了太太的工作，成为了小猫的下一任“铲屎官”。某日，恭一发现小猫已经好几天没有出现了，对小猫已经产生了很深厚的感情的他决定走出家门，踏上寻找小猫的旅途。
